I never use to be a yogi however during my pregnancy after we moved out west I started going to yoga classes twice a week. I was probably about 22 weeks pregnant and it was honestly the best thing I could have done during my pregnancy. I stayed pretty active throughout my pregnancy. Working out about 1 hour almost everyday. I didn't have to work after we moved out west so I used working out as a reason to get off the couch! I honestly believe that yoga helped me stay limber and focused during the last months of my pregnancy. I completed my last class of yoga the night before Brooke was born. There are special pregnancy yoga classes but I just stayed with the power flow yoga. I was fortunate enough that one of the instructors was also hugely pregnant at the time and was able to give me a bunch of modifications. Yoga ultimately allowed me to stay balanced and really keep my entire body toned (especially my arms!). If you are pregnant or know of someone that is pregnant make sure to consider joining a yoga class. You won't regret it you just have to find the perfect balance and instructor that is willing to work with you. Despite a growing belly you can still do all the basic yoga moves and it's somewhat empowering to finish a class with your little one! I remember the last five minutes of class we would just be reflecting and I loved this time because Brooklyn was always SOOO active! It was great to keep her little kicks of encouragement!
